La acondroplasia es una enfermedad muchas veces incomprendida. Durante siglos, se ha utilizado a las personas que la sufren para hacer espectáculo o humor mal entendido. Por ello, muchos de ellos son víctimas frecuentes de burlas y otras formas de bullying. Es el caso de Dru Presta, una mujer de 21 años que mide poco más de un metro, y que ha decidido dar un paso adelante para visibilizar su condición y para romper las barreras de lo estándar en el mundo de la moda.

Dru es la única persona de su familia y una de las pocas en su ciudad, Reno (Estados Unidos), que sufre acondroplasia. Por ello, por el desconocimiento, ha sufrido bullying desde muy joven; también incomprensión. Pero, después de años intentando aprender a lidiar con ello, decidió que su diferencia la hiciera más fuerte, se trasladó a Los Ángeles y se propuso triunfar en el mundo de la moda. Ya ha realizado varios trabajos profesionales, y su cuenta en Instagram (@g0lden.bebe) tiene ya más de 18.000 seguidores. «Quiero que todo el mundo pueda ser aceptado en el mundo de la moda. Quiero que cualquiera pueda salir a una pasarela, aunque vayan en una silla de ruedas o en muletas».
